Bringing two local legends for their first ever All Night Long set for Divination Pugilist and Tamen formed an alliance in 2016 after moving to Melbourne from NZ & Barcelona. They quickly became a powerful production duo with out of the box takes on underground electronic bass music with an ethos of letting the music speak for itself, garnering support from some of the best DJs in the game. They have found their music on labels such as Samurai Music, Modern Hypnosis, 3024, Rupture and Trule. Expect the unexpected when you catch the lads play, their musical influences and tastes are quite expansive from early warp records, hypnotic melters, dubby rollers to brutal amen choppage. Pugilist & Tamen combine nostalgia with forward-thinking production and Onyx traverses a rich landscape of jungle-rooted moods. Onyx introduces a step forward in the duo's production, utilising sculpted distortion as an instrument. Seen on 3 of the 4 tunes, this approach adds a temperative tension as the tunes give the impression they have gone too far into the distortion no go zone but ultimately finding a balance that compliments and enhances the tunes overall sound pallette perfectly.
