Other Worlds Other Sounds and friends return for a full venue takeover at Angel Music Bar, Friday 1st June. ‘Dance Your Way’ is a club focused event that has been running now for 2 years. The concept is simple - two levels pumping out club ready sounds from around the globe. Big room bass vibes, deep percussive rhythms, synths and techno drums. Making a special trip down from Eora/Sydney is Bengali DJ and creative Munasib, whose signature sound reflects a new wave of Australian art and South Asian excellence. Part of South Asian collective KERFEW, Munasib has warmed up dancefloors for acts such as Skrillex, Jyoty and Yung Singh. You’re just as likely to hear her laying down Bengali beats in the club as you are to hear some local hip hop or experimental trap. Naarm based Kenyan DJ Glow takes influence from dancing and fashion and funnels this into her sets. A multi genre DJ who incorporates multi-genre sounds including Afrohouse, Afrobeats and Afrotech which hold a special place in her heart. Long time friend Berkey Mete hails from Cappadocia, Turkey, has established himself as a distinguished DJ, Producer on the global stage. His wide-ranging background and knowledge in music allow him to surprise his audience with a diverse range of genres, from instrumental grooves, electronica and indie dance to lesser-known old songs and tracks from different cultures to 90s house trance. His performances are a dynamic dialogue between him and the crowd, shaped by their mutual communication Opening the dancefloor upstairs are Other Worlds Other Sounds residents Mark Moon and DJ Friday. Keeping things bubbling in the downstairs bar are Colombian/Naarm based collective Eddie Milfort and Luis C from Aprieta, Mystic Brew host and long time Melbourne music scene fixture, label head and DJ Mike Gurrieri, Amapiano and Afrobeats DJ PK Dade and Naarm based DJ and record collector Shane Anthony. ----------- We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land that this event takes place - the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty has not been ceded.
