It’s no surprise she was named one of Chicago’s Top 10 DJs by XLR8R Magazine. Technology and exploration sit at the core of Hiroko’s creative identity. Equally captivated by the beat and the machines that generate it, her sound pays homage to every circuit, resistor, patch cord, and application that brings voice and inspiration to her work. Her gothic and industrial roots are evident throughout her music, balanced by a punk rock DIY ethos. Drawing inspiration from classic science fiction and dark anime, Hiroko’s studio can often be mistaken for a booth at a comic convention. Currently calling labels such as Trax Records, Impact Mechanics, Slap Jaxx, and Klectik home, Hiroko has recently returned from a long hiatus with a renewed and focused techno vision. While her previous projects—Bio-Booster and her work as a member of Monologic—remain an important part of her history, they now take a back seat to her present-day sound. A Midwest rave staple, Hiroko has toured globally, spreading the sound of Chicago with performances at the legendary Movement Detroit Festival, as well as regular appearances in Berlin and Ibiza.
